Chocolate Cream Pie

Ingredients: – 1 pre-made pie crust – 1 1/2 cups whole milk – 1/2 cup heavy cream – 4 large egg yolk – 1/3 cup granulated sugar

– 2 tablespoons cornstarch – 6 ounces semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate, chopped – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – 1 cup heavy cream – 2 tablespoons powdered sugar – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pre-bake the pie crust according to package instructions and let it cool.

Make the chocolate filling: Heat milk and cream, whisk egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch, then add to milk mixture. Cook until thickened. Remove from heat, add chocolate and vanilla, stir until smooth. Pour into crust, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate until set.

Make the whipped cream topping: Beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form. Spread or pipe over chilled pie.

Serve chilled and enjoy!  This quick version of chocolate cream pie delivers all the rich, creamy chocolate flavor with minimal effort.
